Lee County Library: Library Services

Welcome to the Lee County Library's home on the web!

Meeting Rooms

The Main Library offers two free meeting rooms for public use: the Auditorium for larger groups (up to 50 people), and the Conference Room (up to 8 people).  Applications must be completed and returned thirty days before your requested date.  Please see the application for all guidelines for the use of these meeting rooms.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary loan is a program to provide access to materials from other libraries to you, the Lee County Library patron.  To request an Interlibrary Loan (I.L.L.) you must have a Lee County Library account on file in good standing.  Some materials may not be available, due to rarity, the lending library’s policies, or publication date (books under 1 year old often cannot be borrowed).  Audiovisual materials (DVDs, audiobooks, etc.) are not available through Interlibrary Loan.   All Interlibrary Loans incur a $2.00 shipping and handling charge per book.    If you have any questions about this service, please call (919)718-4665 ext. 5486.

Library Cards

How to get a Library Card

1.   Have you ever had a library card with Lee County before?  Some issues can arise if you have had a previous card, and you register for a new one in this manner.  Also, Lee County only issues cards to residents of Lee County and its neighboring Harnett, Moore, and Chatham counties.

2.  Click the link at the bottom of this page.  This will take you to a pre-registration site that will prepare your account for a staff member to finish when you arrive at the library.

3.  On the pre-registration site, be sure to select "Lee County Main Library" or "Broadway Library" as your home library.  That will be the library that recieves your pre-registration information. This will be the location where requested books are sent.

4. Come to the library that you selected in the above step.  If you are 18 years or older, bring a government issued picture ID and (if your ID doesn't include your current address) some form of proof of address such as a bill you received in the mail.  Other examples of acceptable proof of address include recently postdated mail or a lease/mortgage agreement.  If you are under 18, you will need to be occupanied by a parent or guardian that has a library card.  If the parent or guardian does not have a card, they will need to complete these steps as well.

5.  Speak with a staff member at the front desk and inform them that you have pre-registered for a card online.  The staff member will ask you a few questions (i.e. phone number, email address, etc.) to complete your registration.

6.  The staff member will issue you your brand new library card!  This card allows you access to the many resources of Lee County, and other NC Cardinal Libraries.  Your card will allow you to check out materials from over 20 other library systems and you will have access to over 5 million books!  See nccardinal.org for more details!
